AND WE ARE HERE

La Pista del Andino Campsite
We are finally here. Arriving to Ushuaia was very smooth and pleasant. After about a 4 hour flight from Buenos Aires, that I slept through completely, we landed in a tiny, but charming airport, which reminded me of an Alpine resort commercial. With its massive wooden beams supporting its cathedral ceiling, it immediately sets the mood of the arriving travelers for some therapeutically Patagonian beauty. I spent about an hour and a half at that airport waiting for Emi to catch up with me. We had to fly on two different flights, as airline tickets for local flights are a much more expensive for foreigners. In Ushuaia, as mostly anywhere in Patagonia, prices are geared to tourists, so our logging options were limited to camping, also the one option that we prefer. Our home here is camping “La Pista del Andino”, which is an old ski resort located on a lazy slope offering a beautiful view of the bay.

The idea is to stay here for a couple of days to get to know Ushuaia and tune into our new gipsy life. It looks like the luck is on our side, so far, the sun is shining, there is no wind and the temperature is between 15 and 18 C. Though, the weather report is not too promising, predicting some rains in the nearest future…. Hopefully, this is just a scare, because we might just get soaked through in our new home (a tent by the name Azul), which we set up on a slope, choosing a view as a priority.
