Here is one, fresh from the forest. |
In this issue we teach you how to make one of the most delicious vodka chasers that exist! What makes it so wonderful? Some wild slippery jackets mushrooms (the smaller the better), 1-3 garlic cloves, ½ tea spoon of 70% vinegar (or 1 tea spoonful of regular white vinegar), ½ tea spoon of coarse salt, ½ tea spoonful of sugar, 5-7 pieces (balls) of black pepper, 2-3 bay leaf, boiling hot water, 1 half a liter jar with a top.
The small ones are the best! |
The most exciting part of all of this is picking mushrooms! The best kind you can find all around the northern parts of Lake Baikal, but if you are far from there, you can substitute them with wild porchini mushrooms, and probably any other kind as well. Of course, this will not taste as fabulous if you don’t go looking for those guys in the forest yourself and just buy them at some gourmet store. Once you have your shrooms, clean them with running water, remove the top slippery cover from the tops (in the case of the slippery jackets) and jam them carefully into the jar (which has been previously sterilized *) adding some slices of fresh garlic in between the layers. Pack them as tightly as possible without breaking and allowing a pinky finger width of space on top, where you will add the rest of the ingredients. When that is done, poor boiling hot water over the pieces and the mushrooms until the jar is full all the way to the top, and seal the jar with the previously sterilized top. Let the jar slowly chill, and once cold, place it into a refrigerator for 2-3 days.
Get your vodka out and start chasing!!!!
Voilá! |
Sterilizing (for real) - is simply just killing all the germs and bacteria. Boil some water in a pot and place your jar (neck down) and the lid into the water. Let it all gurgle and spit for about and minute and you are done. Takeout the container and the lid with a cloth not to burn your little fingers.
Sterilizing (kinda) – kill the bacteria (at least most of it) fast and easy. Poor boiling water into and over the jar and the lid and you are done. Collect the container and the lid with a cloth not to burn your little fingers.
Specially for you from Russia with Love!
Oh,I remember,it is also very difficult to clean your fingers after this small slippery jackets mushrums!!!))),am I right?)))
ResponderBorrarTrue, the slippery stuff is sticky and it also gets into all of the little cracks in your skin turning it black for a day of two. But, come on! It is not that bad! And most importantly, you get to eat those delicious suckers!
